Tarfa Villa

Cultural development

The villa is conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the curvilinear landscapes found in At-Turaif.

Rather than replicating the heritage architecture directly, the design abstracts its essence creating a fluid and soft composition that speaks directly to the comfort of the user. By using the curved walls in a contemporary way, we create flawless transitions between spaces eliminating hard edges, and welcoming free movement through the house. The design becomes less about walls and rooms and more about an unbroken journey through space — one that supports the rhythm of day-to-day life. Light flows in a perpetual stream over the curved surfaces without obstruction, contributing to the sculptural quality of the interior, and the fluid nature of the spaces generates a sense of security, calm, and warmth. Every curve is studied: creating circulation, establishing views, and moderating the user's emotional experience. The design invites exploration without overwhelming the user — privacy is provided without loneliness, and openness is experienced without exposure. The landscape creates an experience for every user, with winding paths that reveal views gradually, intimate garden spaces, and open terraces that invite interaction. Each outdoor space is carefully designed to respond to the villa’s curved geometry, guiding movement naturally while framing perspectives of greenery, water features, and sky. This approach transforms the villa into a living landscape rather than a strict structure — one that reclaims the timeless geometry of At-Turaif but pushes it confidently into the future.
